Patricia Cornwell Collection of 19th Century Popular Culture
This collection of manuscript materials does not include rough drafts or notes from Patricia Cornwell’s own writing. It consists of materials she collected as part of her very extensive research. In addition to notebooks, pamphlets, and newspaper articles about Medicine and Crime, it includes primary source documents about the abolition movement, suffragettes, Prince Albert-Victor and other 19th century celebrities, education, and literature.
Gordon Aronhime Collection
This collection contains correspondence, musical handbills and programs in American and German, and a European Autograph Album belonging to the Hodgson Family containing famous European composers, politicians, and writers.
Lucina J. Porter Autograph Album
This autograph album has many pages filled with poems from friends, mostly at the Madisonville Female Academy in Tennessee, though there are some from Sweetwater, Athens, Philadelphia, and Cleveland. There are two obituaries, for Mary Francina Varnell and Jane Ann Isabella Davis, tucked between the pages as well as a small card with a poem on it. Lucina also recorded some poems herself within the album.
Phebe J. Havely Autograph Album
This elaborately embossed journal is a Philopaena Album filled with poems of friendship from many of Phebe Havely's friends. Some were written from Endor Cottage, Tennessee, and others from Morristown, Tennessee. In the back, Havely's daughters Katie and Hattie have also signed the book.
Emma C. Clayton Autograph Album
This autograph album, with Leaves of Affection embossed on its cover, opens with a dedicatory poem by the owner, Emma Clayton. It includes poems of friendship from friends, siblings, and a group of strangers who made a short sojourn with Clayton. Some poems are addressed to "Emma" while others to "Mrs. Clayton." Mollie Thomson wrote her sentiments in the various spaces of a sketched quilt block. Many of the signatures include locations in the "C.S.A."
Henry R. Lenoir Autograph Notebook
This collection consists of an autograph book of Henry Lenoir's from his time at Hiwassee College from 1880-1882. Writings from peers include good wishes for future endeavors and quotes from famous poems.
